People ask how I play something such as a marriage conflict or the loss of a loved one; I don't use emotional memories for that, because I feel like it's the most temporary thing for an actor to hold on to. Sometimes, you really have to forget who you are and just focus on the feeling of the emotion – to what degree the person you're portraying would feel it – and go for it.
