The hatred of absolute power and the wretched life of those who prefer to be feared rather than loved.

Original text (Latin)
But the disparagement of the multitude overcame the courage of one man.
The mother of one who knows what fear is seldom has cause to weep.
We measure a man’s greatness by his merit and not by his fortune.
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore is wing'd Cupid painted blind.
To fear love is to fear life, and those who fear life are already three parts dead.
Not for the body, but for the heart; companion and company are needed.
Love seldom haunts the breast where learning lies,
And Venus sets ere Mercury can rise.
