Wedding Quotes
Wikiquote has no wedding page of its own to draw on, so this one is a blend of the marriage, love and romance pages. Only one quote in the data is filed under weddings directly: Ambrose Bierce’s entry in The Devil’s Dictionary (1911), a definition of the ceremony as a joke about who ends up as nothing. It is funny and it is not for a toast.
For a reading or a speech, the love and romance material is the better bet. Shakespeare and Byron are both here. Look at the source line under each quote before you print it on anything.
When the heart stops for one beat it is desire, when it stops for one life time it is love
If there's delight in love, 'tis when I see
The heart, which others bleed for, bleed for me.
She is not well married that lives married long:
But she's best married that dies married young.
There swims no goose so gray, but soon or late
She finds some honest gander for her mate.
