Sweet mother, I truly cannot weave my web; for I am o’erwhelmed through Aphrodite with love of a slender youth.

Oh, my sweet Mother—'tis in vain— I cannot weave, as once I wove— So wildered is my heart and brain With thinking of that youth I love! | (tr. Thomas Moore, 1826) | Compare: Landor, Simonidea (1806)
