Richard Alan Fortey OBE (15 February 1946 – 7 March 2025) was an English science writer, science communicator and palaeontologist, specialising in trilobites. After graduating with a PhD in geology from the University of Cambridge, he had a long career as curator and palaeontologist at London’s Natural History Museum.
