Each night he went out to find a victim for the sadistic love-making which was the only sort which gave him true pleasure. He found many girls who enjoyed being half strangled during intercourse, and a number of them came back for more.

At the age of sixteen he was living with a whore who was a masochist and who encouraged him to ill-treat her. She liked to be beaten and half-choked during intercourse. Kurten’s inborn sadism of course burst into vigorous flower in such a hotbed, if one may use the term, of eroticism. The woman’s sixteen-year-old daughter also lived in this curious establishment.
