Wait, then, my soul! submissive wait,
Prostrate before His awful seat;
And 'mid the terrors of His rod,
Trust in a wise and gracious God!

Come holy Spirit come!
With energy divine;
And on this poor benighted soul,
With beams of mercy shine.
